Butler County Comprehensive Plan: Current

What is it?: This is the current Butler County Comprehensive Plan: Butler Vision 2020. Enjoy reading about our naturally rich, beautiful county full of rolling hills, families, farms, and small town communities.
Why it matters? This is where zoning is defined, language changes, flood maps are updated, statistics for our county are shared, etc.

Here you will find that per page i, it has 3 major roles:

A. Preservation plan- 1) areas of the county that should not be developed, 2)areas that are not ready for development, and 3)areas that should remain intact as to add value to surrounding development.

B. For rural unincorporated areas it governs the types of land uses allowed and the intensity/density of development which may occur. It contains policies to balance development, resource protection, and public health and safety.

C. A plan for the urban unincorporated areas is usually deferred to the local town/city comp plan.

This is what our planning committee works with cities and towns to update, including zoning regulations, definitions, and also the administration’s plans Things such as tax abatement for future employers in logistics, manufacturing, and technology, to be swapped forĀ incentives because, the public didn’t like tax abatement… You can catch those comments in the meeting from March 10, 2026.
