What is it?: This is the proposed changes so far to the Butler County Comprehensive Plan. If you have not looked at the current plan page, please do that first, and come back here! You’ll see why. Enjoy reading about our naturally rich, beautiful county full of rolling hills, families, farms, and small town communities.
Why it matters? Summed up in my understanding: This is where zoning is defined, language changes, flood maps are updated, and water studies are documented, etc. It describes our county, its purpose, and plan.
The planning committee and our county commissioners are currently changing language, as discussed in the County Commissioner meetings on March 10, and April 7 (at the end) on the Current Plan page.
Butler REC and Beltline (data center developer/energy generation company) have retained an El Dorado lawyer for the purpose of finding a data center site; our county administration and city of El Dorado administration are joining these meetings.
We the people need to be paying attention to what is going on in our county, and what is changing from one Comp Plan to another. Suggested changes to THIS draft version were made during the March 10 County Commissioner meeting but have likely been discussed in many meetings. This is an important meeting to listen to and take notes if needed. 😊

What’s Next? Now, if you made it through that, maybe watch the county commissioner meetings from March 10, 3, April 7, and 14th. Then, go share with others!
Stay Informed: You can also sign up for email alerts from the county regarding this project! Scroll down, left side, first square “Project Alerts.”
Do some research on hyper scale data centers, their impact on the communities they divide, and what a real closed loop system is. Hint: According to an industrial hygienist, There is no such thing!
