“I hate to be alarmist, but you know I DO think this issue is important enough because it’s our environment…and it’s water we are not going to get back for a very long time. If there is ONE issue that you should care about RIGHT NOW, it is the Data Centers. Honestly it might require you to get out of your comfort zone.” – Hakeem Anwar, tech developer
Get educated. Get out of your comfort zone.
Share with your family, friends, and neighbors.

Show up on June 1st for the City Commissioner’s vote on Updates to the City’s zoning ordinances– Find their meeting agenda here.
Non-attendance of public hearings, and citizens’ silence on this issue is unfortunately counted as being in favor of the Data Center Industry in our county and towns. Show up just to be a supporter.
Or show up and share your thoughts for 3 minutes.
JUST SHOW UP.
It’s the last place any of us want to be. But we are at a crossroads and this is indeed the ONE issue that we should all care about NOW.
“There are so many sneaky tactics these Data Centers are using [to take over towns]…These Data Centers will come in with code names. They’ll take your County Commissioner out, they’ll take your Planning and Zoning Board out. They’ll take them to the site; they’ll wine them and dine them and say, ‘Hey! This could come to your town!’ And they try to get these things passed in BEFORE the public has a chance to comment…
[The] Rezoning Hearing is one of the most important pieces before an agricultural or residential land can be industrial and it doesn’t need to apply for so many permits to build giant million square-foot houses or industrial water pipes or national gas pipes.
And so this is one of the only processes in a Data Center’s lifecycle where the community can speak up and it’s on the legal record and the County Commissioning or the Planning and Zoning office have to listen to you. It’s really one of the only pieces. So sometime you do see Data Centers being kicked out at that point and time.” – Hakeem Anwar, tech developer
